I became a fulltime potter in 1969 as a member of Browns Mill, Auckland’s first craft market, making wheel thrown domestic ware, fired in a large diesel fueled kiln. After about 12 years, domestic duties took over and when I began potting again I started working in porcelain (a very fine translucent white form of clay which is more difficult to throw) and decorating with lustres to achieve subtle shades of colour.
I also use a white stoneware body for larger pieces. All are fired in an electric kiln.
